Pregnant Possibilities

The pregnancy test is positive- now what? In this session we review the physical, emotional and psychological changes that will occur throughout your pregnancy. We’ll cover prenatal testing explanation, fetal development review, and we’ll include a discussion concerning the various birth choices couples enjoy for welcoming their little ones. This session enjoys a BEBE (Baby-Empowered Birth Education) focus, meaning I help you develop ways to get to know and bond with your baby long before your little one arrives! This is a fun and encouraging consult!

Cost: $75 per couple.  A small travel fee of $1 per mile will be charged for visits more than 15 miles from Denver, PA.

Bonded Beginnings

Not your typical birth class! This 6 hour class, scheduled in segments that meet your needs, reviews the physiologic & emotional aspects of labor, birth, and post-partum. I discuss various birth settings and ‘natural’, medically assisted and surgical births. I give an overview of birth choices, birth interventions and the risks and benefits of each. One distinctive of this class is the Baby-Empowered Birthing Education (BEBE) focus- I believe that your baby is an active participant in your pregnancy, labor and delivery and I help you discover ways to bond with your baby prior to birth!

To support the psychological and physical health of the whole family, Certified BEBE Educators:

•  teach that pregnancy and birth are normal physiological processes, not medical events even when birthing in a hospital

•  teach prenatal awareness of the baby and intentional bonding

•  provide parents with information on birth options and encourage them to be as knowledgeable as possible

•  do not give medical advice but refer to resources such as books, appropriate studies and or published materials

•  provide resources and research-based information through educational classes for the parents. Included is information on movement, positioning, relaxation, ritual, visualization, psychological preparation and emotional mastery techniques, comfort measures, breathing techniques, alternative therapeutic modalities and how to help parents to communicate with their caregivers

•  support low-interventional  birth, but also recognize that level of birth intervention is an individual or medical decision

•  encourage vocal self-expression, including intoning, and support that giving up conscious control is part of the best birth

•  encourage and support early contact with infant and breastfeeding

•  provide women with realistic knowledge about their options during pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum so that they can establish realistic expectations

This is a fantastic class to take to be prepared for the end of pregnancy and the beginning of parenting of your little one!

This is a size friendly class! What does that mean? I initiate discussions about how to modify birth positions to work with your body and about size-specific concerns at the hospital/birth center or while at home. I also make recommendations concerning size-appropriate birthing tools so your needs are met in a way that is comfortable for you!

A newborn baby has only three demands. They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three. ~Grantly Dick-Read

Beautiful Breastfeeding

In this three hour session, we’ll discuss the normalcy of breastfeeding for motherbaby’s health, the facts about infant feeding options, and how to get the best possible start on your breastfeeding journey. We discuss positioning, how often to feed the baby and how to know the baby is getting enough; everything you ever wanted to know about breastfeeding is covered!  Because social support is so important to the success of breastfeeding, I extend this session beyond the expectant couple to include important support people such as grandmothers, sisters and best friends.

Cost: $75 per couple; $10 per each additional support person.  A small travel fee of $1 per mile will be charged for visits more than 15 miles from Denver, PA.
